On August 1, 2019 David Steinberg was our keynote speaker for our opening day of school. In my 40 years of education I believe this was the best opening day speaker I have ever listened to. He was humorous....yet educationally insightful. He included activities for the audience that kept them engaged without disrupting the flow of the presentation. I would HIGHLY recommend David to other groups.

I want to tell you how much I appreciate the work you have done with us, I truly believe we are in a better place instructionally because of the work you have done with us.  I can't thank you enough.

David Steinberg’s “Lead Like the Legends” is one of the most entertaining school leadership workshops in which I have ever participated. It is humorous and lively, yet teaches some great lessons about the work of school administrators. Some people might ask what David’s going to do for an encore, but this performance needs no encore!
— Don Kress, Chief School Performance Officer
I was one of the attendees this past week-end for the Maryland Business Education Association Conference held in Ocean City. Your keynote was outstanding and right on target for teachers. It was motivating and uplifting. Thank you for entertaining, but also teaching us how we can lead like the legends!
— Leila G. Walker, Coordinator, Career & Technology Education
David’s workshop will keep your staff engaged from beginning to end. He weaves leadership qualities with music and anecdotes into a session that will inspire your teachers to be the very best they can be! One of my fourth grade teachers returned to the class the next day and used some of the very same strategies with her students. David’s workshop was inspirational! If you want your staff to feel valued and have a wonderful time in doing so, this is the session for you!
— Linda Goldberg, Principal, Potomac Elementary School
Lead like the Legends by David Steinberg was entertaining, engaging, and inspiring! By the end of the workshop I had reflected through music the qualities of educational leadership that I need to grow over the remainder of my career. After the workshop concluded, I was motivated to do more as a leader of my school.
— Andrew Winter, Principal, Lucy V. Barnsley Elementary School
I just wanted to say thank you for coming to Neelsville today and giving your talk, “Lead Like the Legends.” I have never heard anyone speak in such an engaging, emotional and poignant way to teachers. I really think you touched everyone in the room. You were phenomenal, and have certainly given me inspiration to last for quite a while.
— Kathleen Jacobs, Teacher, Neelsville Middle School
I can’t begin to think of all the incredible motivating speakers I have witnessed live in person from Joel Osteen at the Baltimore Civic Center, to Tony Robbins in Vegas, to David Steinberg today. Dr. Steinberg’s show really hit home as to why I love what I do! I caught myself tearing up on a few occasions due to the stories that really hit home. I know I will utilize what I got from today by recognizing the leadership attributes as I deliver my lessons in class.

What a fun way to be reminded about the importance of the work we do.
I drove home thinking about teamwork and my team.

I loved the diverse examples he used musically and how the music connected to an idea. I can recall his leadership lessons because of the music legends he tied them to.

When I got home I called my mom to tell her about the presentation and it just reminded me how important our job is and how cool it is to be able to make a difference in so many lives.

I was at dinner with some friends this evening and I was so excited to share with them all about the many things he talked about. What a terrific way to begin the week and it reminded me the importance of an educator in a child’s life.

His examples were ones that I myself have in my head of great teachers and ones I hope in years to come, my students and parents would say about me. It really reinforces why we got into this profession.

Overall…A+ presentation - I would recommend it to anyone.
It helped me to be reflective and made me take a step back and think.

The meeting energy left me in awe of how Dr. Steinberg made connections with music, thinking, co-operative conversations, famous role models, and teachers. He truly values education at every level and continues to give at his greatest capacity.” I walked away thinking: What am I doing in my own life that leaves a breath of fresh air to others and leaves them feeling hopeful and more happy?

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is in reference to the services offered by Dr. David Steinberg, a longtime educator and colleague in the area of motivational speaking. Having known David for a number of years (we were High School Principals for a while together), I knew of his many talents, but had never seen him “in action” until this past fall at a statewide gathering of Maryland school board members. David was extraordinary in such a unique approach that I offered to write this recommendation. He is funny, adapts music to his message (David is an accomplished musician, playing numerous instruments), and due to his long career, has credibility with a variety of audiences. Teachers, administrators, and those involved with education can sometimes be a very difficult audience.

At the conclusion of his presentation, he received a standing ovation. I might add that he was the concluding presenter of a three-day conference, ending on a fall Friday in good weather (and no one left early)!

Should your faculty, PTA, school system, or group be looking for a unique presentation, coupled with a very powerful message, David Steinberg is well worth looking into.

We recently had the pleasure of inviting Dr. David I. Steinberg, to a Potomac Elementary Staff meeting. Dr. Steinberg has been a teacher and principal. Dr. Steinberg presented a revue of songs by different composers, performers, and musicians. After each song was presented, the staff was treated to a short explanation of the origin of the song, a little biographical information about the famous musician or performer, and a leadership lesson showcased by the song or artist. Dr. Steinberg then related that leadership characteristic to a personal experience he had experienced in his career.
We talked about the power of being sincere and being optimistic, as fashioned in the songs, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “Oh, What A Beautiful Morning.” Upon hearing Ray Charles’ rendition of “Georgia, On My Mind” we talked about the perseverance Ray Charles demonstrated in his life, and we made a connection to educators who should accept no limits, by teaching to each student’s strength. We listened to “A Little Help From My Friends” by the Beatles, and discussed the great value in teamwork and collaboration. The song, “What a Wonderful World”, performed by Louie Armstrong, highlighted how important it is for educators to be authentic and be themselves.
Our staff thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and the opportunity to think about the leadership qualities we possess and want to expand.
— Ellen Winston, Staff Development Teacher, Potomac E.S
David Steinberg was probably the BEST speaker I’ve heard at an MCPS event! Talk about unique! That was so much fun, and what better way to engage the audience than with music?
— Christine Rogewitz, Administrative Secretary

In December 2022, I first saw this book on the shelf of my son-in-law Mr. Rajeev Gupta currently Acting Principal of Goshen ES.  In my role I am always on the lookout for inspirational novel ideas for effective leadership.  The title was catchy and the size of the book was not intimidating.  I was impressed by the unique style of the author.  The language is plain and simple, the anecdotes shared very easily relate to leaders working at different levels and are extremely practical.  The fourteen “Lessons” are laid out in logical sequence touching upon almost every aspect of leadership role.  Each lesson is inspiring, comprehensive, 5-6 pages long, succinct and has a recipe to work and reflect on and ends with an action plan.  This is one of those rare books on leadership I have read that I would not let go till I finished reading cover-to-cover.  This is one of those books where I have scribbled loads of notes and underlined the sentences.  Finally, this is one of those rare books on leadership I carry in my bag-pack to work to read and refer repeatedly because each time I do that there is more juice in it.
